Human Trafficking Activist Featured at Atlanta Event
Womenetics is pleased to announce Somaly Mam, internationally renowned human trafficking activist and co-founder of the Somaly Mam Foundation, will be the featured human rights speaker at the 2011 Global Women’s Initiative: The Ripple Effect. “We believe Ms. Mam’s contributions to the anti-human trafficking movement will both educate and inspire attendees to work for change” says Elisabeth Marchant, CEO of Womenetics. A survivor herself, Somaly Mam works tirelessly to give a voice to victims and survivors of sexual trafficking. Her global awareness efforts have been instrumental in establishing a worldwide anti-trafficking movement that not only exposes the crime and root causes of human trafficking, but recognizes the critical need to provide survivors with comprehensive services that empower them to live successful and dignified lives.
The Global Women’s Initiative: The Ripple Effect will take place on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Intercontinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, GA. The day-long event will consist of a keynote address and panel discussions with individuals instrumental on the international, national and local stage surrounding essential topics impacting women globally who will comment on education and literacy, health and hunger, economic empowerment and human rights.
