200,000 Diapers Arrive at Food Bank

200,000 Diapers Headed to Food BankOn July 27, Huggies  donated 200,000 diapers to the Atlanta Community Food Bank as part of its “Every Little Bottom” national campaign, which was launched a year ago to get diapers to babies in need.

In a recent survey of food bank partner agencies, 44 percent of respondents said the need for nonfood items has increased dramatically. This includes everything from personal hygiene items and diapers to paper products and cleaning supplies.

A 2010 study commissioned by Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies brand revealed that one in three American mothers struggles to provide diapers for her babies. Often, she sacrifices other basic needs – such as food, utilities, and childcare – so that she can put a clean diaper on her children. The study found that babies needing diapers suffer more physically and emotionally when their dirty diapers cannot be changed.

People wanting to help put diapers on babies in need can go to www.ACFB.org and click on the link to the wish list page. Diaper donations will be delivered directly to the food bank.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank distributes more than 30 million pounds of food and grocery products annually to more than 700 partner nonprofit organizations that provide food assistance to families and individuals in 38 counties in metropolitan Atlanta and North Georgia.
