President and CEO of Vital Voices Global Partnership to Deliver Address at Atlanta Awards Event
ATLANTA, GA (April 4, 2011): Womenetics today announced Alyse Nelson, President and CEO of Vital Voices Global Partnership, will be the keynote speaker at the 2011 POW! Awards. At this event, Womenetics will honor innovative female leaders who forge new paths and create leadership models for the women who follow. This second annual awards event takes place on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at Loews Hotel in Atlanta.
“Womenetics is pleased to have Alyse Nelson join us for the 2011 POW! Awards,” said Elisabeth Marchant, CEO of Womenetics. “Nelson embodies what this annual event is all about – it is designed to honor and uphold purposeful women who encourage and enable dynamic growth, bringing the ‘POW!’ factor to everything they do. We are honored to have the opportunity to hear from Nelson and learn more about the ways in which Vital Voices empowers women.”
A co-founder of Vital Voices, Nelson has worked for the organization for twelve years, serving as vice president and senior director of programs before assuming her current role. She has worked with women leaders to develop training programs and international forums in over 120 countries and has interviewed more than 200 international leaders. Prior to her work with VVGP, Nelson served as deputy director of the Vital Voices Global Democracy Initiative at the U.S. Department of State. Her position aided former First Lady Hillary Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s commitment to promote the advancement of women as a U.S. foreign policy objective. Nelson helped design, coordinate, and implement Vital Voices conferences, projects and initiatives throughout the world.
