Advancing Aspirations Global Scholarship 2011 - Winners and Their Essays
Thursday, November 10 2011

Throughout the world, young people drive change and bring about new ways of thinking. Womenetics recognizes the power of young people and is dedicated to connecting students who are interested in the global advancement of women with those in vital, impactful roles. We aim to inspire students to be the future leaders of women’s empowerment by providing relevant information and education on measures currently being taken. Womenetics seeks to personally engage students. To do this, Womenetics has developed the Advancing Aspirations Global Scholarship.
Womenetics' mission is to uplift, elevate and empower women through events, community and education. The Advancing Aspirations Global Scholarship competition is held each year in conjunction with the Global Women’s Initiatives. These symposiums are designed to inspire action and collaboration among business, nonprofit, education and public policy leaders, and to build the way to make a different in the lives of women and girls around the globe. These events convene some of the most recognized experts on global women’s issues for discussions regarding economic empowerment, human rights, education and literacy, and health and hunger.
The Advancing Aspirations Global Scholarship consists of two aspects – The Georgia-Pacific Prize and the Discover Prize. Five finalists are selected for each prize, with both first place winners being awarded $5,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the 11th Annual Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards at the Kennedy Center in 2012 and eight additional essayists being awarded $1,500 each.
